Sherry Roberts – LPN, EOH, OHS
Sherry was born and raised on the east coast of Canada. She graduated as an LPN from the Central New found Land Hospital in 2004 and went on to complete certificates in Environmental Occupational Health (2013) and Occupational Health and Safety (2015) from the University of Victoria and The College of North Atlantic respectively. Most of her career focus was in Occupation Health and Safety with several years of experience nursing in long term care. She has worked in Newfound land, Manitoba, and joined Dr. Filyk’s practice in 2015.
Her primary passions are helping people and spending time in the great outdoors with her partner, three “fur babies” and two grown children.
“Bringing a smile to someone’s face when they are having a bad day makes me feel really good.”
Her greatest accomplishments in life are raising her two boys, her academic accomplishments and surviving Calgary traffic.
Magda – Student – Nursing Faculty at University of Calgary
Magda has been working with Dr. Filyk since 2009 and is currently finishing her degree. Magda is an easy-going person with a positive attitude excellent work ethic and a kind heart. While attending her nursing classes she continues to provide casual coverage at the clinic. “Making a difference in peoples lives by providing compassionate nursing is really important to me.”
Margot Bergevin – B.Sc., B.SC. Nursing, RN CWC Primary Care Centre
Margot works collaboratively with family physicians and other members of their Patient Care Teams to create comprehensive care plans for patients. provide education, resources, community and PCN referrals, as well as motivational interviewing to help increase the overall health and well-being of patients.The nurses at the CWCPCN work within physician member clinics and some work at the CWC Primary Care Centre at Westbrook for centrally referred services. Nurses work closely with patients, spending time consulting with them on various health topics such as:
- Chronic disease management and education
- Support and promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviours and disease prevention
- Obesity education and lifestyle modifications
- Seniors services including assessment and support
- Smoking cessation, including medication options and coping strategies
- Diabetes education, monitoring and insulin counselling
- Blood pressure testing, monitoring and education
- Respiratory management including screening for sleep apnea, referrals to pulmonary rehabilitation programs and asthma/COPD treatment plans
Sarah Hofer, PCC, Patient care Coordinator Calgary West Central Primary Care Network
Patient Care Coordinators (PCCs) help doctors gain a better understanding of their patients’ needs. Patient care coordination is a new service that provides member physicians with assistance in gaining a better understanding of patient needs by arranging well-organized visits when patients need to be seen and helping to track achievements in improved patient care. Sarah is the clinic Referral Coordinator. The PCCs work directly with physician member clinics and availability varies by clinic.
Nicolette Thiessen, MA, R.PSYCH, Behavioural Health Consultant, Shared Mental Health Care, Calgary West Central PCN
Behavioural Health Consultant Nicolette is our clinic’s Behavioural Health Consultant (BHC) who is invested in providing comprehensive care to patients by consulting and working collaboratively with family physicians and CWC Patient Care Teams. Nicolette is a Registered Psychologist, who completed their graduate studies at McGill University in Counselling Psychology, and also holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. She strives to offer a safe space (LGBTQ2S+) and brings to the team years of experience as a BHC. Over the years she has worked in primary care, community mental health, private practice, academic settings, and has experience working with diverse populations and presenting concerns. As a helping professional, Nicolette never ceases to be amazed and inspired by the resiliency and unique strengths of other’s.
