Dr Helen Montgomery The practice of Dr. Helen Montgomery is focused on dermatology with special interest and training in skin cancer screening and management. She has been working in a skin cancer clinic for over 5 years and been active teaching family medicine residents from the University of Calgary Family Medicine program prior to joining with Westside Medical.
Dr. Zoe Filyk offers minor surgery excisions and Cosmetic Dermatology. Westside Medical is associated with the physician-owned Laser Medica which delivers safe, effective medical aesthetic services . Dr. Filyk is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine at The University of Calgary and Dept. of Family Medicine.
All Dermatology appointment and Dermatology procedures for Dr Helen Montgomery and Dr Zoe Filyk take place at Laser Medica site ( Entering by the east door of the building)
There are no restrictions as to what you can eat or drink the night before and on the day of your minor surgery. The procedure is done under local anesthesia; you will be able to drive home afterwards. If you have a fever, or symptoms or infection, sometimes we may need to postpone the surgery please talk to our office to notify us.
Medication: If you take aspirin or prescription anticoagulants (blood thinners), speak with your GP 2 weeks before your surgery. Take regular prescription medications. Please stop your multivitamins about 1 week before surgery.
Skin Preparation: Please do not use hair spray, or mosturizer.
Child Care: Please do not bring children to the clinic the day of your surgical procedure.
During the Procedure:
60 – 90 minutes depending on the condition being treated. The procedure is done under local anesthesia; so you will be able to drive home after.
